SocDem Asia member parties and partners met in Bangkok from 18-20 May for the Defend Democracy Working Group, the first face to face activity in two years, to discuss the challenges and lessons faced by the region's democratic struggles in the past years with the rise of authoritarianism, COVID-19 pandemic, and economic crises.
The event emphasized the shared struggles faced by Asia's social democrats and progressives as well as the need for a united transnational response to the attacks on our democracies and human rights, and the need to build spaces for our democratic struggles."
